The Mystery at Webb Hill: An Online Investigation to Find the Truth

Boots

These boots were found inside the cave. One boot is clearly more preserved than the other. No bones were observed inside the boots. The boots have eleven eyelets per side for shoe-string, making twenty-two eyelets per boot. The boots are 9 cm in width at the sole of the boot where the ball of the foot would be. The boots are 6 cm in width at the heel. The boots are 18 cm high at the longest point that would cover the ankle. The tongue of the boot is 4 cm in width consistently along the entire length. The number 816 is stamped on the inside cotton liner of the right boot. The boots have almost no scratch markings on the sole that would indicate wear (The left boot is absent of significant pressure and scratching marks that would indicate more than slight use). There are slight vertical indentation markings on the inside arch area that may indicate use in a stirrup. Positive identification of the time of the manufacture of the boot has not been achieved.
